Who am I?
I’m Austin, I am a Visual Effects Artist working in Commercial Film and T.V. in California and I shoot film photography as a hobby in my spare time.
I have worked in the field for over a decade, earned a B.S. in Digital Cinematography, and earned Awards for my work in Visual Effects over the years.
If interested here is a link to my site in Post Production.
Why film?
I spend a lot of my time on a computer and so a nice break I have found was to go out and shoot Film. I have shot digital most of my life, but something I saw happening was shooting a whole SD card, and then getting home to go through hundreds of photos trying to find the best one for each scene I shot and that really made it no fun to do.
I found having to take my time to calculate my exposure and then knowing I only have 12 -36 shots in total, forces me to find that perfect shot before I take it.
Or even if It’s a shot that needs to be taken at all.
I enjoy picking up any sweet deal on thrift store/ Used Film cameras I can get my hands on. If it turns on and shoots, I will probably buy it.
That along with being able to physically sleeve my negatives and scan them end after development has turned into a really enjoyable hobby.
What is this site?
The purpose of this blog is to have a place to post and keep a record of what I shoot. When I got started I know I went all over the internet to see how specific cameras and film stocks looked like so I figured I can contribute back and share what mine look like, for anyone who comes along looking.
Lets talk!
