Pismo Beach has always been the go-to place for us when we want to get out of town, and I always use it to shoot a couple rolls of film during the trip, this was from a 120 roll I shaved down to fit into my Duaflex camera. I talk about getting the camera in this post.
You really have to plan and know what kind of light you will be shooting in especially if you have to prep the film by shaving it down ahead of time, so on these occasions I will take 2-3 rolls from 100 ISO up to 800 ISO, that way I can shoot all day as the light changes.
Once you have the ISO set, you just need to step back far enough to make sure your subject is in frame AND in focus, you have no control of the focus on this camera.
I find over time you get used to how far away you need to be and that becomes the norm.
While walking down the pear I saw this man sitting there with his fishing rod, the bird on the ledge and the sign telling fishermen not to feed the birds scraps and thought it was too perfect not to capture.
It took some effort of grabbing the shot before the bird flew away and avoiding people walking thru the shot, totally worth.
